ومقدم برامج إخبارية وترفيهية على التلفزيون السوري.

وُلد في دمشق عام 1936 لعائلة أرمنية مكونة من أخ وأخت. في عام 1962 أُعلن عن مسابقة للمذيعين.

تقدم يوسف وكان من بين المرشحين الناجحين، إلى جانب العديد من المتقدمين الآخرين،

بمن فيهم أحمد زين العابدين ومحمد قطان وسمير رفعت وفاطمة خزندار. عمل في البداية في الإذاعةالتلفزيون،

وكمدرس لغة عربية في مدرسة ساهكيان الأرمنية الخاصة.

واصل مسيرته التعليمية حتى التقى ذات يوم بمدير عام الإذاعة والتلفزيون، الأستاذ عطية الجودة.

سأله عن شهادته، وكان رد مهران القاسي مؤثرًا للغاية. عندها قرر مواصلة دراسته،

لكن لم يُسمح له بالاستمرار في جامعة دمشق لمرور عشر سنوات على حصوله على شهادة الثانوية العامة.

لذلك، التحق ببيروت وحصل على بكالوريوس في الأدب العربي في أربع سنوات.

بعد أن عمل لفترة في الإذاعة، انتقل إلى التلفزيون.

في بداياته، قدّم عددًا من البرامج المميزة، رغم تواضع الإمكانيات التلفزيونية آنذاك.

عاصر فترة البث من القاهرة نتيجةً للتبادل خلال أيام الوحدة، وفترة الانفصال، ثم ثورة 8 مارس.

كما شهد انتقال البث من الأبيض والأسود إلى الملون.

قدّم في بداياته برامج سياسية، ولاحقًا برنامج “مجلة التلفزيون”، بالإضافة إلى العديد من برامج المسابقات.

كان فخورًا جدًا ببرامجه التي قدّمها، مثل “أبيض وأسود” و”حظك” و”الأبراج”، جميعها بالأبيض والأسود.

ومع انتقاله إلى البث الملون، قدّم برنامجه الشهير “حظ وشيء آخر”،

الذي جمع بين برامج المسابقات والفقرات الموسيقية والفنية، واستضاف نخبة من نجوم الغناء من سوريا والعالم العربي.

لن ينسى المشاهدون تغطيته المتميزة لرحلة الفضاء السورية السوفيتية عام ١٩٨٧.

كان برنامجه الأخير “سؤال على الطريق” آخر برامجه التلفزيونية،

واعتمد على معلومات سريعة عن أسماء الشوارع والساحات والأحياء في دمشق وبعض المدن السورية الأخرى.

وحتى ظهوره التلفزيوني الأخير، كان يقدم نشرات الأخبار المحلية بأسلوب جريء،

ويتابع قضايا المواطنين من خلال عرض مشاكلهم على الجهات المعنية مباشرةً عبر الهاتف.

لم تُغرِ القنوات الفضائية مهران يوسف. عُرضت عليه وظيفة في قطر وأخرى في دبي،

لكنه رفضها أيضًا، مُشيرًا إلى حبه للحياة في سوريا.

وفي هذا الصدد، قال سابقًا:

“لي وطن في هذه الدنيا، ولست مستعدًا للذهاب إلى أي مكان آخر”.

توفي الإعلامي والمذيع السوري مهران يوسف يوم الاثنين ٢٥ فبراير ٢٠١٣،

إثر نوبة قلبية عن عمر ناهز ٧٧ عامًا، بعد مسيرة إعلامية طويلة ومتميزة.

Mahran Youssef is a prominent media personality and presenter of news and entertainment programs on Syrian TV.

He was born in Damascus in 1936 to an Armenian family consisting of a brother and sister. In 1962, a

competition was announced for broadcasters. Youssef applied and was among the successful

candidates, along with several other applicants, including Ahmed Zein El Abidine,

Mohammed Qattan, Samir Refaat, and Fatima Khazindar.

He initially worked in radio and television, and as an Arabic language teacher at the private Sahkian Armenian Language School.

He continued his educational career until one day he met the Director General of Radio and Television, Mr. Attia Al-Jouda.

He asked him about his diploma, and Mahran’s harsh response was deeply moving.

He then decided to continue his studies, but was not allowed to continue at Damascus University because ten years had passed since he received his high school diploma.

Therefore, he enrolled in Beirut and earned a BA in Arabic Literature in four years. After working for a period in radio, he moved to television.

In his early days, he presented a number of distinguished programs, despite the modest resources available on television at the time.

He witnessed the broadcasting period from Cairo as a result of the exchange during the days of unity, the period of separation, and then the March 8 Revolution.

He also witnessed the transition from black and white broadcasting to color.

In his early days, he presented political programs, and later the program “Television Magazine,”

in addition to many game shows. He was very proud of the programs he presented, such as “Black and White,”

“Your Luck,” and “Horoscopes,” all in black and white.

With the transition to color broadcasting, he presented his famous program “Luck and Something Else,”

which combined game shows with musical and artistic segments, and hosted a selection of singing stars from Syria and the Arab world.

Viewers will never forget his distinguished coverage of the Syrian-Soviet space flight in 1987.

His last program, “A Question on the Road,” was his last television program,

and relied on quick information about the names of streets,

squares, and neighborhoods in Damascus and some other Syrian cities.

Until his last television appearance, he presented local news bulletins in a bold style and followed up on citizens’

issues by presenting their problems to the relevant authorities directly via telephone. Satellite channels didn’t tempt Mahran Youssef.

He was offered a position in Qatar and another in Dubai, but he also turned them down, citing his love for life in Syria.

In this regard, he previously said, “I have a homeland in this world, and I’m not prepared to go anywhere else.”

Syrian media personality and broadcaster Mahran Youssef passed away on Monday,

February 25, 2013, following a heart attack at the age of 77,

after a long and distinguished media career.
