أرخبيل موغادور: فتح الجزيرة للجمهور، نعم… ولكن ما الثمن الذي سيدفعه صقر إليونورا؟

قد يكون فتح جزيرة موغادور للزوار مبادرة رائعة لعرض تراثها التاريخي والطبيعي.

لكن موغادور ليست كأي جزيرة أخرى.

يُعدّ أرخبيل الصويرة موطنًا لأكبر تجمع تكاثر لصقر إليونورا (Falco eleonorae) في العالم. تُظهر اخر النتائج وجود زيادةً معتبرة في اعظاده: 677 عشًا في عام 2010 مقارنةً بـ 1875 عشًا في عام 2026، أي بزيادة تقارب 177%.

لكن هذا النجاح البيئي يبقى هشّا.

قد يؤدي التوافد المنتظم للزوار إلى الضوضاء والإزعاج والاقتراب من الأعشاش وتكرار الهبوط وتعطيل التكاثر.
لذلك، قبل فتح موغادور، من الضروري أولًا تقييم قدرة الجزيرة على التحمّل.

لذالك ندعو إلى:

🔹 تقييم علمي وبيئي شامل؛

🔹 تحديد القدرة الاستيعابية البيئية للجزيرة؛

🔹 مناطق وفترات محمية بشكل صارم؛

🔹 المراقبة العلمية قبل وبعد الافتتاح؛

🔹 والأهم من ذلك كله، ضمان إعطاء الأولوية لحماية التنوع البيولوجي على السياحة عندما تتطلب البيانات العلمية ذلك.
تستحق موغادور أن تُكتشف، ولكن قبل كل شيء، تستحق الحماية.
دعونا لا نحول جوهرة طبيعية إلى ضحية لنجاحها. حماية اليوم تعني توريثها للأجيال القادمة.

Mogador: Opening the island to the public, yes… but at what cost to Eleonora’s Falcon?
Opening Mogador Island to visitors could be a wonderful initiative to showcase its historical and natural heritage.

But Mogador is not like any other island.
The Essaouira archipelago is home to the world’s largest breeding population of Eleonora’s Falcon (Falco eleonorae). Our monitoring shows a dramatic increase: 677 nests in 2010 compared to 1,875 in 2026, representing a rise of nearly 177%.

This ecological success is fragile.
The regular arrival of visitors can lead to noise, disturbance, proximity to nests, repeated landings, and disruption of breeding.
Before opening Mogador, it is therefore essential to first assess what the island can truly withstand.

We call for:
🔹 a thorough scientific and environmental assessment;

🔹 Determining the island’s ecological carrying capacity;

🔹 Strictly protected areas and periods;

🔹 Scientific monitoring before and after opening;

🔹 And, above all, ensuring that biodiversity protection takes precedence over tourism when scientific data demands it.
Mogador deserves to be discovered, but above all, it deserves to be protected.
Let’s not turn a natural jewel into a victim of its own success. Protecting today means passing it on tomorrow.
